Valerie Thornton 1931 - 1991, etcher and painter. Thornton studied at Regents Street Polytechnic School of Art and, for eight months in 1954, at Stanley Hayter's Atelier 17 in Paris, an experience she described as electrifying. Highly regarded by her peers, she exhibited widely internationally and examples are to be found in many collections including the V&A, Fitzwilliam Museum and MOMA New York.
